The Black Bullets - ThirteensThe Black Bullets – Thirteens

The Black Bullets formed back towards the end of 2011 and since then they have been causing waves in the underground music scene with their gritty as fuck music which brings together the best of metal and punk fused with a big we don’t give a fuck attitude.

The band have just released their second EP ‘Thirteens’ which happens to be a 13 minutes long 4 track offering, and from the moment you hit the play button The Black Bullets come charging at you with massive riffs and dirty sounding vocals which leave you wondering if front man Rob Castle chewed on a bunch of grit moments before laying down his vocals, instrumentally ‘Thirteens’ features a lot of rhythm and a solid guitar solo towards the end, as the song ends you will find yourself reaching for the repeat button just so you can throw your fists in the air and chant “Thirteens” along with the band again and again.

‘How High’ is a tasty sounding high tempo song where the band really come together and show off their instrumental work with some groovy basslines, fast paced guitar riffs and not to forget the constant hard hitting drum beats as the band find time to solidly jam in-between vocals, talking of vocals Rob Castle is on top form again but it is the mad energetic fist pumping chant-a-long shouts of “How high, how high” which really grabs your attention.

‘Untitled’ shows a slightly different side of The Black Bullets from the rest of the EP in the way that it is more of a solid guitar driven song where the band ditch the shouty vocals and welcome a more sing-a-long vocal style. The awesome ‘My Priest’ closes the EP and what a way to do so, the song is big and ballsy sounding with some killer guitar work on offer especially when the solo kicks in, lyrically the song is entertaining with Rob Castle singing “I sniff, I swallow, don’t give a fuck if I wake up tomorrow” in such a catchy way, whilst the rest of the band gather together for shouts of “My Priest”.

It is not every day that you come across a band like the Black Bullets, on record they sound fantastic, and I imagine that they absolutely smash it on the live circuit, seriously head over to the bands website (http://www.theblackbullets.bigcartel.com) and purchase this EP before heading down to one of their live shows tanked up on JD whilst wearing your finest body armour whilst madness erupts around you.
