Dropkick Murphys - Signed And Sealed In BloodDropkick Murphys – Signed And Sealed In Blood

Everyone’s favourite drinking band the Dropkick Murphys are back with their eighth studio album and after hearing the singles ‘Rose Tattoo’ and ‘The Boys Are Back’ I just knew that ‘Signed And Sealed In Blood’ was going to be one of the strongest sounding albums the Boston punks have released in years and my god was I right.

The album opens up with ‘The Boys Are Back’ a song which has a massive chant-a-long feeling with its repetitive lyrics of ‘The boys are back, the boys are back and looking for trouble’, the song easily has the potential to become a future drinking song for the bands legion of fans and equally anyone who likes meeting up with their group of friends and heading out on the town on the lash.

‘Prisoner’s Song’ see’s the Dropkick Murphys go back to their folk roots and smash their way through 2minutes and 48seconds of pure catchy sing-a-long music that you will find yourself coming back to listen to again and again.

‘Rose Tattoo’ is the lead single from the album and it is easy to see why with its big Celtic-punk sound running through, the song is one of the longest running tracks on the album clocking in at just over 5minutes and within minutes you will be getting your Irish jig on as quickly pick up on the well written lyrics and chant-a-long with the band.

The majority of the album features big songs that are bound to be future crowd pleasers such as ‘Burn’ the song runs at such a pace you can’t help but go mental to it, ‘The Battle Rages On’ is another song that you get hooked on within seconds of hearing that trademark Celtic sound.

Not everything on the album is full on in your face Celtic punk, take ‘Out Of Our heads’ for example it reminds me very much of the gaslight Anthem in places and with ‘Out On The Town’ following it up moments later and ‘End Of The Night’ closing the album one track later, the Dropkick Murphys manage to add three more drinking songs to the table whilst toning things down slightly.

The Dropkick Murphys are back bigger and stronger than ever and set to release the first solid album release of 2013 when ‘Signed And Sealed In Blood’ drops on the 8th January and with a UK set for a week or two after the album release it looks like 2013 is going to be an very exciting year for the Dropkick Murphys and their fans.
