I’ve heard a lot of positive things surrounding
this bands live performances, apparently from
what I’ve gathered from various fans and
gig attendees, I’ve heard it’s absolute
pandemonium and the lead vocalist is absolutely
out of his mind. That kind of review makes me
want to see them perform but doesn’t necessarily
make me a either a fan or want to go out and buy
their CD’s. The band has 1 full studio album
under their belts previous to this and their material
spouts from the origins of punk rock splashing
around in the old school scene crossed with the
new breed of hardcore genres, to me though their
songs whilst being explosively fast and heavy
do not make up for the fact that they are stupidly
short, the 14 tracks on this new release amount
to a total of around 22 minutes, I have nightly
walks that last longer than that and I’ve
never got through 14 songs on one of those before.
I’m a fan of aggressive music regardless
of its genre so certain punk bands have always
been in my heart due to my personality and nature,
hardcore music is hit and miss with me as certain
acts have taken it too far but there are still
certain acts that I find myself enjoying. Trash
Talk though I have to say are not really one of
them; for me from start to finish on record I
can’t really get myself into them, the tracks
are just too short and I can’t really understand
most of the lyrics which is rare for me as I am
able to understand certain Cannibal Corpse lyrics,
the songs are also in my opinion too similar not
that I get much chance to really find things to
compare. Best way to describe it would be take
the old school stereotypical punk vocal style
but grittier with modern metal growls and somehow
they manage to push modern hardcore drum beats
yet a guitar tone infused with the crunchy metal
distortion but played in an aggressively punk
fashion from a technique standpoint.
This review matches the album duration as it’s
not particularly long, but short of describing
the tone and composition which I believe I’ve
adequately done, there’s not much else to
say. The negative parts of this review are just
my feelings towards the record but if what I’ve
described remotely sounds appealing to you then
check it out! It’s just not something for
everybody.
