Twenty Twenty - 25th HourTwenty Twenty – 25th Hour

Since they formed back in 2008 Twenty Twenty have been on an incredible journey in the music industry they have supported many huge pop bands ranging from McFly, The Saturdays, The Wanted, Avril Lavigne, Scouting For Girls and many others and when they are not supporting high profile bands they are embarking on their own headline tour which has seen them rise from playing the small room in the Academy venues across the country to now selling out the Academy 1 in many towns and cities months in advanced.

Twenty Twenty released their debut album ‘Small Talk’ back in April 2011 and it entered the UK charts at number 26 and featured 9 well polished pop-punk tracks that you couldn’t help but sing and bounce along to, towards the end of 2011 Twenty Twenty announced that they were working on their second studio album and this time around they decide to go through pledge to fund the record where their fans could donate money to get exclusive, rare and signed Twenty Twenty items and they smashed the pledge goal in no time by an extra 38%.

The bands second album ‘25th Hour’ has just been released and just like their debut album it features 9 pop-punk tracks which have a big American feel, yet I feel the time apart between the albums have gave Twenty Twenty extra confidence and helped them create a much more mature sounding album which is instantly accessible but will take a couple of listens for people to fully appreciate the greatness on offer.

The album opens with ‘Trouble’ which happens to be the single Twenty Twenty released a couple of weeks before the album and it is a fast and furious number oozing with energy, the band bounce through the song in a crazy 2minutes and 48seconds and its top stuff from start to finish with excellent lead vocals and strong backing vocals coming in at the right time.

The album title track ‘25th Hour’ shows a more mature side of Twenty Twenty, the song opens in a chilled out way but as soon as the chorus kicks in Twenty Twenty do what they do best and and let off a mad burst of energy whilst they frantically take over the airwaves with some fantastic musicianship.

‘Morning After You’ is a slow paced song yet the instrumental and vocal work that is put into the song helps make it one of the stand out tracks on the album as instrumentally its more toned down than your usual Twenty Twenty song yet vocally things are beautiful sounding especially during the soft sounding chorus of “It’s the morning after, morning after you”.

‘Over Your Spell’ see’s Twenty Twenty up their game instrumentally as they lay down some big riffs and generally bounce through the song at an amazing pace, ‘Beautiful Monster’ is a big sing-a-long song, whilst ‘You And I (Next Big Thing’ is a beautiful song about new relationships and ‘Killing The Cancer’ is easily the best song on the album coming across with a punch edge.

With ‘25th Hour’ Twenty Twenty have delivered the goods again and their fans are going to instantly snap up the album, the only negative comment I have to say about the album is it puzzles me on why Twenty Twenty can never make it to 10 tracks when it comes to releasing an album as a 9 track album is more of an mini album but I guess it’s better having an album with 9 killer tracks than releasing an album with more tracks that are all filler.
