3 Doors Down have been causing excitement in the
music industry for a solid 16 years now and in
that time they have toured the world over many
times and released 5 studio albums with their
latest album ‘Time Of My Life’ being
released back in the summer of 2011 and to follow
up from that album they have decided to put out
a ‘Greatest Hits’ album which feature
9 US number 1 songs plus 3 brand new songs which
is more than enough to keep the fans happy until
album number 6.
The ‘Greatest Hits’ is a great compilation
of songs and provides the perfect starting point
for people who may have only just got into 3 Doors
Down through seeing them at festival or being
dragged along to one of their shows by a friend
and never really knew where to start when it came
to the bands back catalogue.
You just have to listen to the likes of ‘Kryptonite’,
‘When I’m Gone’ and ‘Here
Without You’ to understand how 3 Doors Down
have had such a successful career in the music
industry as there is something special about each
of these songs and to be honest the same could
be said about all 12 tracks on this compilation
including the 3 new songs which instantly sound
like they are going to become fan favourites at
future 3 Doors Down shows.
Leading the first of the 3 new tracks is ‘One
Light’ a song which is guitar driven with
some right chunky riffs on offer, ‘There’s
A Life’ is more slow paced with Brad Arnold
shining with his vocals and the guitar solo during
the middle of the song will easily take your breath
away, ‘Goodbye’ is a extremely personal
sounding song where Brad Arnold takes control
with his vocals rising way over the soft paced
instrumental work.
I always find greatest hits compilations a bit
hit or miss as I am always a bit wary about record
labels trying to rip fans of their bands off by
releasing greatest hits and then reissuing them
a few years later with a new song but with 3 Doors
Down I feel that their ‘Greatest Hits’
is easily worth the money as they offer a decent
selection of songs for both the long term hardcore
fans and also new fans who may have only got into
the band over the past year or so.
