Sacred Mother Tongue - A Light ShinesSacred Mother Tongue – A Light Shines

Over the past couple of years Sacred Mother Tongue have slowly been making a name for themselves by touring as much as possible including performances at Sonisphere and Download Festival they are currently working on their ‘Out Of The Darkness’ album which is set for release sometime in 2013 but in the meantime they have just released ‘A Light Shines’ which happens to be a little stop gap 4 track EP to give everyone a taste of what is still to come.

‘A Light Shines’ opens with ‘Evolve/Become’ and right from the start Darrin Smith has you in the palm of his hands due to his unique sounding melodic vocals which have a knack to draw you in the second he lays down a note, instrumentally the song has everything from constant banging drums, pretty powerful baselines, fast guitar riffs and an all mouth watering guitar solo which leaves you wanting more.

‘Bleeding Out’ carries on pretty much where ‘Evolve/Become’ finishes off as Sacred Mother Tongue work their magic on yet another 4minute long melodic metal masterpiece. ‘Seven’ is just as powerful as the previous songs.

The EP closes with ‘The City Is Crying’ a track which is recorded live from a gig in China and it perfectly captures the powerful sound of Sacred Mother Tongue, their interaction with the crowd and also the reaction from the crowd.

Sacred Mother Tongue are the biggest young rising star in the metal scene since Rise To Remain took it by storm a couple of years ago and if this EP is anything to go by then you should keep your eyes closely on this talented 4 piece as if their forthcoming album ‘Out Of The Darkness’ is anywhere as good as it promises to be then 2013 certainly will be this hard working bands year.

4/5
