Kopek are the latest addition to the Century Media
Records family and they have already enjoyed a lot
of success in America where their debut album ‘White
Collar Lies’ has been out for some time now
due to winning best live act at the global battle
of the bands and gaining a long running American
tour in the process and now it seems that Kopek
are ready to crack the UK rock scene and have a
busy time lined up with a show at this year’s
Download festival which see’s them take to
the Red Ball Bedroom Jam stage and to coincide with
this they will be releasing their debut single ‘Love
Is Dead’ and debut album ‘White Collar
Lies’.
‘White Collar Lies’ is a 12 track
adventurous album where Kopek rock out in a dirty
grunge rock kind of way, the album opens with
their debut single ‘Love Is Dead’
and it is the perfect way to open the album as
‘Love Is Dead’ is such a unique listenable
track where front man Daniel Jordan goes on a
rant about pretty much every music genre, drug
and celebrity being dead, the lyrics are well
written and executed in an catchy way.
‘The Easy Way’ features Daniel Jordan
taking on a totally different vocal approach from
the opening track yet the catchiness is still
there, and everything from the tinny drumming,
catchy guitar riffs and fast flowing vocals work
ever so well.
‘Cocaine Chest Pains’ sounds a bit
like everyone’s favourite cock rock band
Buckcherry but with a more radio friendly sound
running throughout and overall sounding extremely
bouncy and catchy.
It is good when new bands like Kopek come around
and release a solid debut album that you are going
to still be enjoying years from now and I feel
this is due to the diversity of the album as you
have solid tracks like the rocking ‘Fever’,
the melodic ‘Running Scared’ the toned
down ‘Sub Human’, the radio friendly
‘Bigger Than Us’ and the ever so unique
sounding debut single ‘Love Is Dead’.
It is safe to say that Kopek are here to kick
rock and roll alive and kicking and they have
a bright future ahead of them.
4/5
