Brighton screamo at it's finest. Their message? Just because they're from
Brighton, that genre, and have that haircut, doesn't mean they're like the
rest. And I'm going to have a agree.
The opener, “Bored Of Math” has screaming twisted verses
that manage to perfectly resolve themselves and lead into brilliant breakdowns.
The second track “Left For Dead,” is carried by the awesome
guitar riffs, which really are great.
Ghost Of A Thousand, at some points in their music, have a similar sound
musically to that of fellow Brighton rockers, The Zico Chain, but are
of course vocally, very different.
With most songs lasting under three minutes, you're blasted through an
entire CD of hardcore rawk in under half an hour, so by dedicating an
hour to listen to a CD, you can still catch neighbours when the album
is finished. Just kidding, this CD is good stuff.
And if you aren't into the vocal style, then block it out, this is worth
it for the musical genius alone. Song after song churning out awesome
riffs, and rhythms that could have only been played by a drummer on numerous
substances at once.
Besides the opener, a personal favourite is Black Art Number One.
Only for one break down does the CD lose it's momentum, I'm guessing
that's because it's hard to scream softly, but yeah. In general it's a
high-octane half hour of heavy hitting riffs, beats and vocals. A tale
about being “young and unstoppable,” made up of impressive
musical knowledge.
