Straight Lines - Freaks Like UsStraight Lines – Freaks Like Us

Ever since Straight Lines released their debut album a couple of years back the band have been working their socks off touring the country over many times on their own headline tours or massive support slots with their latest seeing them touring alongside The Presidents Of United States Of America, to coincide with the tour Straight Lines released their single ‘Half Gone’ which is simple one hell of a sing-a-long song that you will never forget once listened to, ever since then myself and many others have been patiently waiting for the release of their new album ‘Freaks Like Us’ and the wait is now over.

‘Freaks Like Us’ is a straight up ten track rock and roll album with a slight fast paced punk edge which reflects on real stories and experiences and if you look deep into the lyrics you will understand the album name and opening track ‘Freaks Like Us’ is about how no matter how different or weird you think you are or someone else is there are always people around who are similar and we are in freaks in one way or another from others perspective.

From start to finish the album flows at a fantastic pace opening with ‘Freaks Like Us’ which flows fast and stands out amazingly well due to the unique vocals from front man Tom Jenkins this is followed up by current single ‘Commitment’ and previous single ‘Half Gone’ which gives the album a fantastic opening with a triple whammy of outstanding songs.

The singles may well be the best songs featured on ‘Freaks Like Us’ but that does not mean the other tracks are weak as songs like ‘Bury My Thoughts, ‘Empty Chest’, ‘So Many Paths’ and ‘Ring the Bell’ really do have a big catchy vibe with ‘Ring The Bell’ easily going to be picked as a future single.

Straight Lines have done well with ‘Freaks Like Us’ and created an album which lives up to many people’s expectations, now only time will tell if Straight Lines have done enough to ensure bigger headliner tours are on the horizon.
