Reef were one of the best rock bands to come out
of England throughout the 90’s they were
responsible for hit singles like ‘Place
Your Hands’, ‘Superhero’, ‘Come
Back Brighter’, ‘Consideration’
and many others, the band reformed a couple of
years ago to the delight of many hardcore fans
and since the reformation the band have completed
a couple of sold out tours across the UK and also
appeared at many major festivals.
Since the reformation Reef have not released any
new music but now they are about to release pretty
much everything they have released plus more in
a collectors set titled ‘Reef 93 –
03 The Ultimate Collectors Box Set’ which
includes 9 CDs, 1DVD and pretty much every single,
b-side and general track that Reef have ever written
as well as a impressive 64 page booklet of many
unseen pictures a 12” vinyl of their newly
arranged 5th album and unheard demo’s.
The package comes in an impressive looking box
and is presented ever so well but the killer question
is who is going to be brave enough to cough up
£125 for this Reef masterpiece? Especially
considering that the band already have a greatest
hits album under their belts which you can pick
up for less than £10.
It is clear to say that this collection really
is for the diehard fans and I am sure that Reef
still have many diehard fans but I do feel that
general music lovers are going to struggle to
pay £125 for this collection when the world
is in such a finical crisis as it is and when
you can pick up ‘Together The Best Of Reef’
for under £10, but if you do love Reef and
can afford the high asking price then I would
highly recommend picking up this Reef retrospective
collection.
