Straight Lines ended 2011 on a major high when they
supported Funeral For A Friend and The Subways and
it looks like they are wasting no time in 2012 and
have fired into the new year with their brand new
single ‘Half Gone’ and are soon to head
out on the road with Canterbury.
‘Half Gone’ is one hell of a big
infectious song, it has everything from massive
guitar riffs, pounding drum beats and infectious
lyrics which will enter your head within seconds
and take days for you to shake out and the best
thing about the song is that the more you listen
to it the better it get’s which after first
listen you might think is impossible as the song
already sounds that bloody good from the go.
The main B-side ‘Watch It Blow Away’
is more of a slow paced serious sounding song
from the main single but it is still a solid song
which kicks major arse when it reaches the chorus.
An acoustic version of ‘Half Gone’
is also included and anyone who has read any of
my previous reviews for acoustic based music will
know that I am a sucker for acoustic music and
I really love how Straight Lines have slowed this
infectious song down and taken it down a serious
acoustic route.
I feel Straight Lines could be hot property when
they released their second album ‘Freaks
Like Us’ come April as ‘Half Gone’
is a fantastic taster of what to expect and I
have so much faith that Straight Lines will maintain
the goodness and deliver the goods.
5/5
