Capital Sun are a new band from Birmingham and
they have a love for music from the 60’s
and 70’s generation and that can clearly
been seen in their own music as they have gone
for an easy listening rock and roll feel.
The main single ‘Forgotten Songs’
is a song about what being a band in the music
industry back in the day used to be like where
it was all about getting a music deal and touring
the country as much as possible instead of how
things are these days with the digital revelation
with bands taking to Twitter and Facebook to preview
their music and get fans, lyrically the song is
well written and does cover some serious truths
within the history of the music industry, however
musically the song is very bland and extremely
easy listening with basic guitar riffs and tinny
drum beats coming and going.
The B-side ‘D.O.C’, is more easy listening
than the main single but there is something about
the beautifully sung chorus from front man Glen
Boden which makes the song stand out far better
than the main single.
Overall Capital Sun are nothing special but if
you like easy listening rock and roll music with
an acoustic feel throughout then Capital Sun could
well be worth you checking out but if that is
not your kind of thing then steer clear of these
guys.
