Fall Out Boy - Infinity On HighFall Out Boy - Infinity On High

Fall Out Boy are one of the most talked about bands around at the moment and are a band you either love or hate. With tours selling out within hours, their Mercury Records debut album 'From under The Cork Tree' selling well over 3 million copies since its release in 2005 and their follow up album 'Infinity On High' just about to be released, but can it live up to the huge expectations?

To be honest it doesn’t matter what I think or what any other review says about 'Infinity on High', it’s going to sell loads and go multi platinum as Fall Out Boy have one of the biggest and most loyal fans across the world. But the good thing is 'Infinity On High' is a stunning album and deserves all the praise it’s going to get.

'Infinity on High' sees Fall Out Boy working along Babyface for the first time and Neal Avron who produced the bands last album. Anybody who has heard the bands current single 'This Ain’t a Scene It's An Arms Race' which also happens to be the lead single for 'Infinity On High' will know how poppy Fall Out Boy have turned. It was the perfect choice to be released as the first single as it’s fast and poppy sounds like the Backstreet Boys in places and sticks in your head for days.

A spoken word introduction from the hip-hop star Jay Z opens the album and the band soon kick into the fast paced 'Thriller' which is the perfect track to open the album. 'The Take over the Break Over' is another great track and Patrick Stumps vocals shine throughout. Fall Out Boy have always been at the top of the game for having the longest song titles and 'I'm Like A Lawyer With The Way I'm Always Trying To Get You Off (Me And You)' carries on that theme but the song is pretty average and is the first song on the album produced by Babyface.

'Hum Hallelujah' is a song that takes a few listens to get into but sticks in your head after a few listens. The piano ballad 'Golden' is a bit of a strange track but ends up being a grower after more listens.

There are some great moments on 'Infinity on High' such as the second Babyface produced track 'Thnks Fr Th Mmrs' which is destined to be the bands next single with its huge sing a long chorus. 'Don't You Know Who I Think I Am?' sounds like a classic Fall Out Boy song. 'The Carpal Tunnel Of Love' is another great song with such a great chorus you just need to hear.

If you liked 'Under the Cork Tree' your no doubt going to love 'Infinity on High' the lyrics are as good as you would expect from Fall Out Boy, Patrick Stumps vocals are better than ever and the album in general is as catchy as you would expect. It’s not going to bring in many new fans but will keep the hardcore fans more than happy and continue to bring Fall Out Boy the success they more than deserve.

5/5
