Brooklyn-based indie rockers We Are Augustines are
set to release their debut album ‘Rise Ye
Sunken Ships’ in March 2012 but in the mean
time they are unleashing their new single ‘Book
Of James’ which is an extremely personal song
for frontman Bully McCarthy.
‘Book Of James’ documents the most
traumatic period of McCarthy’s life which
saw him lose his mother and his brother James
to suicide and instead of penning a depressing
song about the situation he has gone the other
way and created quite an uplifting progressive
song where the instrumental work becomes more
and more unpredictable as the song goes on and
McCarthy breezes through with pure love, emotion
and passion in his vocals.
If ‘Book Of James’ is anything to
go by then I think 2012 could well be an exciting
year for We are Augustines, but we will have to
wait for that album release in March to see how
things pan out for them.
