The Minutes are a band from Dublin who formed back
in 2006 and they are influenced by old skool bands
such as The Smiths and Thin Lizzy, they are set
to head out on tour in Novermber with Flogging Molly
and to coincide with that they are releasing their
first ever UK single ‘Black Keys’.
‘Black Keys’ is quite a powerful
sounding song about New York yet has an really
old skool edge, the vocals from Mark Austin are
loud and clear and exactly what you would expect
from a front man, whilst the instrumental work
has bit of everything from a tasty horns sections
to extremely bouncy basslines which will have
you jumping higher than if you were on a bouncy
castle.
Overall ‘Black Keys’ is a great song
which has a lot going on at any one second, the
more I listen to the song the more it grows on
me, anyone heading out to the Flogging Molly tour
are going to have a blast watching The Minutes.
4/5
