Dave Hause is best known for fronting the punk
band The Loved Ones but I would imagine that now
he is known as the comedian from the Revival Tour
as on the recent show that I checked out Dave
was cracking jokes left right and centre whilst
enjoying every second on stage playing truly memorable
songs one after another and now he has decided
to launch his solo acoustic career whilst also
juggling his time with The Loved Ones.
‘Resolutions’ is the debut solo album
from Hause and has just been released by Xtra
Mile Records whom Hause recently joined, the album
features 10 tracks and happens to be the most
personal work that Hause has worked on to date,
anyone that has had the pleasure of listening
to Hause in The Loved Ones will appreciate the
amazing song writing and lyric themes featured
on ‘Resolutions’.
The album opens with ‘Time Will Tell’
which happens to be a really serious sounding
song which starts off slow but progresses into
a fast paced keyboard driven song which really
gives Hause time to shine with his vocals. ‘Melanin’
see’s the pace turned up a bit with Hause
crafting a really melodic sing-a-long tune which
is sure to be a fan favourite for years to come.
‘C’mon Kid’ is the lead single
to be taken from the album and it is clear to
see why as it features that Frank Turner style
sing-a-long chorus which has clearly been included
to help raise the roof off each and every venue
that Hause performs at.
Other than the main single ‘C’mon
Kid’, the title track ‘Resolutions’
is the main highlight on the album as its very
fast paced and features a winning formula of very
memorable and repetitive lyrics which will be
lodged in your head for a long time after listening
to it.
There are a few slow paced style ballads on the
album such as ‘Years From Now’ and
‘Meet Me At The Lanes’ which offer
nothing special but it’s moments like mentioned
above and the fast paced ‘Rankers And Rotters’
which make ‘Resolutions’ a really
enjoyable debut album.
It is safe to say that Hause has a lot of work
to do if he wants to reach the dizzy heights of
other solo artists such as Frank Turner and Chuck
Ragan, but either way ‘Resolutions’
is a great debut album and that alongside his
recent stint on the Revival tour is going to help
Hause become an artist that a lot of people will
be watching closely in the near future.
