Dangerous! Are the latest bunch of young punk
rockers to be signed to Epitaph Records which
happens to be the home of punk rock to some of
the best punk bands in the world, Dangerous! Are
a new four piece hailing from Australia and they
have also caused a mini storm across the UK with
their debut single ‘Not One Of You’
as well as embarking on various live shows across
the country, the band are best compared to the
fast paced sounds of The Hives, The Vines and
Blood Brothers mixed with the pure energy and
creativeness of Australian rock gods AC/DC.
The debut album from Dangerous! Titled ‘Teenage
Rampage’ is due for release on the 19th
September and it is basically a punk rock by numbers
album in the way that it sticks to all the classic
punk rock rules with 11 out of the 12 tracks failing
to get past the 3minute mark in length which makes
for a really fast paced short album, but trust
me it is all killer and no filler.
If you have heard the two singles ‘Not One
Of You’ and ‘Movers N Shakers’
then you will know what Dangerous! Are all about,
‘Not One Of You’ is a raw shouty ride
from the start with some tasty guitar riffs and
general rowdy noises whilst ‘Movers N Shakers’
does stick to the fast paced raw formula it also
happens to be quite a melodic track that has the
potential for gracing radio stations across the
country.
As ‘Teenage Rampage’ progresses you
get the feeling that Dangerous! Have been drinking
red bull by the case because there is no giving
up with the fast paced adrenaline fuelled ride,
‘Slow Mo Video’ is rowdy as fuck,
‘Chasing The Girls’ starts off with
some banging drums beats and chunky riffs, whilst
‘Big Muff’ sounds like it would fit
in perfectly on an Hives album.
One of the stand out moments on the album is ‘Nightmare’
which is an really positive sounding fast flowing
song which has big breakdowns and generally enough
noise to cause broken bones in the mosh pit, whilst
also boasting some sing-a-long melodic moments.
The main stand out moment on the album is the
last track ‘D! Or Die’ the song is
very raw sounding and also happens to be the only
track on the album which reaches the 3minutes
mark, as the song progresses the instrumental
work drops out for a few moments as the vocals
become loud clear and ever so forceful, before
the thunderous guitars return for a distorted
instrumental outro.
Solid sounding new punk bands like Dangerous!
Don’t come around to often but when they
do you know it has been worth the wait and with
Dangerous! That is the case as they bring a whole
breath of fresh air to the punk scene and are
a very excellent addition to the Epitaph roster
and if ‘Teenage Rampage’ is anything
to go by then these Aussie lads have a long future
ahead of them.
