Punk rockers Goodbye Jersey certainly have Entertained
Me; their debut album is a great delight for the
old ears with their sound that is like a combination
of Blink 182 crossed with The Offspring sprinkled
over with ka elements. The best part about half
of their songs is that they’re quite short
so they don’t have change to get stale or
repetitive. Also this genre is completely dominated
with American bands and these guys are bloody German!
You would never think these guys were from Germany
listening to their music.
It is a bit bad how the singers are almost exactly
the same as Blink 182’s to be honest because
it’s extremely similar; however their stuffs
a bit heavier to be fair and the fact they’ve
got the ska infusion gives them a little bit of
individuality. They seem to alternate on the album,
they’ve structured the track list to go punk
song followed by a ska song followed by a punk song
and so forth throughout the entire album.
The songs are extremely well structured; it’s
a very different approach to punk rock, especially
with bands like New Found Glory, Greenday and A
Day to Remember about these days. The only thing
keeping me from giving them a top review is that
vocal problem, its just not original and it keeps
popping up in my mind whilst I’m listening
to it.
The best songs, well the ones in my opinion and
that I’d recommend are “Angels and Western
Waves”, “Minutes Like Bombs”,
“The Living Dead” and the only German
song from the album “Zombie Shuffle”.
All 4 of these songs would give you a sense of exactly
how well structured and different each of their
songs are which is impressive seeing as a lot of
punk rock gets stale these days.
