I never thought I would see the day where Bowling
For Soup ditch their jokey ways and take on a more
mature sound and approach but that time has come
in the form of their new single ‘Turbulence’
and wow Bowling For Soup may rock when they joke
about but ‘Turbulence’ is something
else and one of the best Bowling For Soup songs
released in ages.
‘Turbulence’ is a well written serious
acoustic ballad, the lyrics are really serious
and even the way the vocals are executed by Jaret
Reddick are spot on and unlike anything he has
done before, instrumentally the song starts off
with an acoustic guitar being strummed but as
the song progresses the instruments kick in a
bit more with Gary Wiseman’s drum beats
shining over everything.
Bowling For Soup have proved with ‘Turbulence’
that they may well be kings of having a laugh
but at the same time they can still pen a quality
serious sounding song and I am sure that ‘Turbulence’
is going to raise a few eyebrows and appeal to
people that may well of written Bowling For Soup
off as a silly poppy-punk band all those years
ago.
