iBurn are an Irish unsigned band that have a very
amazing approach to the metal music. There’s
an industrial metal feel as well as a very metalcore
feel to it, some tracks also encompass rap rock
elements. The guitar work is all very dropped,
heavy and dirty with some melodic parts dotted
along but normally dirty riffs and heavy drops
throughout the songs. I can definitely feel elements
from a wide variety of different bands; a lot
of Soilwork, some elements of Essex 5 piece Forever
Never and tiny amounts of Fear Factory.
This is their debut album with 8 tracks on it
and combines all the elements that I previously
mentioned together to form their stamp on the
modern metal scene. They obviously worked hard
at this and the top quality recording shows they
are really taking their career seriously. The
album on a whole I completely love but to be honest
they cover a lot of ground on it and the second
half of the album brings the rap rock influence
in.
First song on the album “Have Myself Again”
was like a first shot of heroin, extreme pleasure
and addiction; heavy, quick and a catchy chorus
line! The vocals on this album are great; pulling
off clean melodies and deep growls, the singer
definitely knows what his vocals are capable of.
“The Ripple Effect” is the start of
the albums takeover, the first track warms you
up then this one blows you apart with interesting
guitar work and range between heavy and melodic
sections make for an energetic bouncy 3.5 minutes
of metal mayhem.
Like I said earlier, they encompass a sort of
rap rock edge in the second half of the album;
best shown in tracks like “Rotting My Body’s
Strength”, “Family Tradition”
and “Loser” however this isn’t
to say they’ve ruined it these particular
songs are phenomenal and encompass the bands metal
sound with a different style twist over the top
of it and it works beautifully. This shows that
they are capable of integrating many elements
into their music and that will keep them from
getting stale and disappearing like many new bands
recently.
For a debut album from an Irish band and the fact
you rarely see any Irish bands emerging anymore
this release is astonishing with the potential
to go even further the band are in the perfect
position to make a name for themselves. iBurn
are definitely a band to watch over the next year.
