Sancho Panzer are a fast energetic four piece band from Exeter who have
just finished their six track mini album which was produced by Joe Gibb
who has worked with the likes of Funeral For A Freind, Million Dead, 3 Colours
Red etc.
The mini album is fast and furious from start the finish and full of
killer tracks such as opener '18-30 Overture' which is so energetic with
its fast guitars and fast hardcore vocals. The vocals in 'High Speed Operation'
remind me slightly of Will Simpson from Brigade, the song is another fast
and furious one with a killer shout a long chorus. 'I Am The People' is
a song about how everyday citizens don't have a voice or an output but
nobody celebrities such as Jade Goody does. The song starts off with a
really heavy guitar riff and features more sing a long vocals than screamo.
The standout track on the mini album is 'Mandarin' a song that is musically
heavy and loud and works really well when it slows down for the vocals
and then builds back up again, the highlight of the track is the heavy
riffs leading to the end of the song.
'No Appeal' is a pretty mellow track which slightly picks up in pace
for the chorus. 'Palomino' finishes the mini album off in a fast paced
way with its heavy riffs and energetic vocals.
'A Current Archetypal' is a good release and full of energy and well
produced songs, the only downside is that there are so many bands like
this around at the moment which is going to make it hard for Sancho Panzer
to come out top of the pack unless they have a few surprises up their
sleeves for their debut album.
3.5/5
