Female fronted London punks Deadline have just released their forth album
upon us on People Like you Records. The album is nicely titled 'Take A Good
Look' and this album definitely deserves a good look in as it’s the
best album the band have ever released and one of my favourite female fronted
records.
The album is great from the stunning speed and hardcore sound of opener
'Blood On Your Hands' to the almost acoustic finisher 'Moving Lines'.
There is not a dull moment in sight every track on the album features
fast sing a long choruses, the drumming is fast and constant throughout
the whole album.
There are so many good moments throughout the album which really makes
it hard to pick out a stand out track but 'Do You Think?' is a well made
song starting off with fast guitars and drumming and Liz Rose's vocals
shortly come in but change in style throughout the song from fast sing
a long poppy punk vocals to more mellow sing a long vocals as the music
breaks down for a short moment. Also 'I Wont Give' starts off with really
heavy drumming and some male vocal shouts of "Lets Go" the duel
male and female vocals run throughout the whole song making it a really
hardcore, raw song and a lot different from the rest.
The title track from the album 'Take A Good Look' is a really catchy
poppy punk track and very sing a long.
Each track on the album runs between 2-3 minutes long just like fast
punk should be, making the album clock in at just under forty minutes
in length. Deadline are a great band and mainly due to how good and addictive
Liz Rose's vocals are as its quite rare to find a good female fronted
punk band these days since the Distillers split up and then Liz would
give Brody Dalle a good run for her money.
4/5
