Jaed are a three piece punk band from Melbourne fronted by Vanessa Eve.
She was raised on bands such as Veruca Salt, L7, Hole, The Pixies and
the Riot Girl scene, which have influenced her to make her own unique,
spikey, punk, pop sound.
The first track, 'Catherine', is a fast poppy, punk track that gets you
bopping along for the whole 47seconds. Yes, this track is only 47 seconds
long and by no means is this a bad thing. It just leaves you wanting more
and you'll find yourself listening to it over and over again.
The second track, 'Gutter Girl', is another poppy, punk track which is
quite different from 'Catherine'. It has an awesome sound to it; Vanessa's
vocals are really strong and so are the lyrics. Awesome track.
The single is very good and show cases what good talent Jaed have. It
is taken from their forthcoming debut album, 'Dirty Days', which is out
in early 2006. Definitely worth checking that out if this is anything
to go by.
