This band was one of the first that I really got
into when I discovered rock music, their first
album “Casually Dressed and Deep in Conversation”
was a really heavy melodic style of music and
then that continued onto the second album; after
that however the heavy side of the band took a
back seat, until now.
This release brought back the elements they’d
let go since the first album and brought them
back infusing them with the style that the band
have been using on the previous couple of releases
to give something that has elements and styles
that can appeal to all areas of their broad fan
base.
I don’t think that there is much to say
apart from the fact I’m very glad that the
band chose this style for the new release on the
year that I finally get to see them live after
all these years. Back to their roots and creating
something special, the vocal range of the singer
have been brought back and the melody in his voice
is something of beauty. The guitar work is again
phenomenal ranging from very clean acoustical
melodies to very gritty hard rock flowing up tempo
riffs and palm muting.
The best songs for the heavier side are “Sixteen”,
“Front Row Seats to the End of the World”
and especially “Broken Foundation”
with tremendous amounts of screaming vocals. As
well as the heavier style they also have songs
that are very upbeat and lively like the beautifully
bouncy “Welcome Home Armageddon”,
“Damned if do dead if you don’t”
and “Man Alive”. Finally you can’t
ignore the beautiful ballad “Medicated”
which is a very nice addition to a superb album,
beautifully written and definitely very nice on
the ears. I would recommend this album to any
type of music fan because of all the different
elements and types of songs.
