Ex Placebo drummer Steve Hewitt put his new band
Love Amongst Ruin together during the early parts
of 2010 and on the 9th June they headed out to The
Scala in London for their first live show and this
was followed by the release of their self titled
debut album only a couple of months later, the start
of 2011 has been pretty quiet for the band but they
are now ready to kick things off again with the
release of their new single ‘Alone’
on the 28th February.
‘Alone’ is quite a haunting little
number which is full of electronic beats and repetitive
vocals of “I don’t wanna be this alone,
I don’t wanna be this alone” which
actually stands out in a positive way due to Steve
Hewitt’s softly sounding vocals which send
a chill down your spine.
Love Amongst Ruin may not have the same catchy
appeal as Placebo but then again that is not what
Steve Hewitt is stepping out to do with this project,
if you like the whole 90’s rock scene and
bands such as Depeche Mode and the Cure then you
will love everything that Love amongst Ruin have
to offer with ‘Alone’.
4/5
