Johnny Get The Gun have been going for the best
part of three years now and they have worked up
a sound and style which sounds like a mix of All
Time Low crossed with Radiohead and Muse yes it
does sound like a pretty random mix but Johnny Get
The Gun have mastered the style that they have developed
and are now ready to take on the world with their
debut mini album ‘Never Far From What We Know’.
‘Never Far From What We Know’ features
5 tracks all of high quality, the mini album opens
with ‘Good As It Get’s’ and
right from the opening stadium rock style soaring
vocals you instantly know that the three years
of hard work for Johnny Get The Gun has paid off,
moments letter the guitars come in at a fast pace
causing a mad flurry of beautiful noise and as
the song progresses each and every band member
shows off just how talented they are at playing
their instruments as everything is so in place
and perfect sounding.
‘Hills And Knives’ starts off sounding
like a indie number meets stadium rock Muse wannabee
track, it is huge sounding and the sing-a-long
choruses from frontman Wayne Lightowler are breath
taking whilst the riffs and guitar solos are simply
out of this world.
‘Lead Hearts’ opens with a massive
instrumental introduction and seconds later Wayne
Lightowler comes in with his fast flowing vocals
which helps take the song on a powerful sing-a-long
rocking journey, however saying that the song
does a few quieter moments but still manages to
progress in a melodic way.
‘In The Middle’ is a big and bouncy
happy song which will leave you smiling from side
to side whilst wanting to jump around like a nutter,
it is quite a repetitive song yet so enjoyable
at the same time.
The mini album closes with ‘Take It’
which happens to be the rockiest song on the album,
it is a proper shout-a-long stadium rock song
which oozes with classy powerchords and is bound
to become a fan favourite as it is not often that
you hear songs of this quality from such a new
band.
Overall Johnny Get The Gun have proved that they
have got what it takes and have created one hell
of a mini album with 5 amazing songs that you
will never get bored of, I understand that these
guys are already working on their debut full length
album so can clearly see that 2011 is going to
be a massive year for this four piece.
