It has been a fair few years now since I last heard
music from The Like or even active movement from
the band so you can imagine the pleased look on
my face when the band’s brand new single ‘Wishing
He Was Dead’ came through my door.
‘Wishing He Was Dead’ is due for
release on the 23rd August and is a proper teaser
of what to expect from the bands forthcoming new
album, the single is short clocking in at under
3minutes and from the go it is damn right quirky
and catchy and oozes in that old skool 60’s
sound and style, the song is about wishing bad
things on the person who cheated on you, and what
makes the song so entertaining is the fact that
The Like have turned something so awful into something
fun and exciting especially with hard hitting
lyrics of “If I could snap that neck, that
broken record trainwreck, I might feel okay”.
Mark Ronson has taken on production duties for
the single and just like the fantastic results
he hadshad with Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen and
Robbie Williams he can now add The Like to that
list of artists that he has helped raise the profile
of as ‘Wishing He Was Dead’ is going
to catapult The Like right into the UK top 40.
5/5
