U2 and Greenday got together to do a cover version of 'The Saints Are Coming'
which was originally written and recorded by The Skids back in 1978. The
song is being released in the aid of music rising which is a charity set
up by The Edge from U2 to help musicians in New Orleans after the hurricane
Katrina disaster.
The cover of 'The Saints Are Coming' is something truly special with
two of the biggest bands in the world at the moment teaming up and with
the legendary Rick Rubin's production skills this is a loud and clear
song. Billie Joe Armstrong and Bono share lead vocals alternating until
they both team up for the chanting chorus, the vocals towards the end
of the song get fast and finishes with style. The drumming throughout
the song is strong but during the chorus it is fast blistering drum beats.
The single also features a live version of the song which is live from
New Orleans and it is stunning.
Greenday and U2 make a good team as they have turned 'The Saints Are
Coming' into a powerful stadium rock song, and with two of the biggest
bands in the world working together for this, it’s bound to raise
a lot for the charity.
