Babyshambles - The Blinding EPBabyshambles - The Blinding

Babyshambles are releasing a new ep full of new material on the 4th of December. The new ep titled the 'Blinding EP' features five new tracks from the band which were recorded and produced in London by the band themselves.

I never really got into Babyshambles when the band first took off and released their debut album 'Down in Albion'. I took time to listen to the album a few times but it never really grew on me, however there was the odd track I liked such as 'Fuck Forever', 'Killamangiro' and 'Albion'.

Because of this, I wasn’t so sure if I was going to enjoy 'The Blinding EP'. Now, after a few listens I am really hooked. The ep starts off with the title track 'The Blinding' the tracks really mellow sounding and sounds a bit like a one man band, the chorus is quite catchy with some good breakdowns. Track two is titled 'Love You but You're Green' this tracks good but nothing special, once again due to the mellowness. Track three is where the ep steps up its pace for the stunning ska sounding 'I Wish' which has a stunning sing a long chorus. Track four 'Beg, Steal or Borrow' is a pretty decent song and has the classic Babyshambles sound to it.

The ep finishes off with 'Sedative' and it seems Babyshambles have left the best till last, the track clocks in at just over four minutes and starts off with some pretty mellow guitar playing and Pete saying "Seventeen" a few times before the song goes all up beat with a sing a long chorus and then returns to mellowness etc.

You cant help but notice how talented Pete Doherty actually is. The man knows how to play a good tune when ever he’s sober or off his face. He and the rest of the Babyshambles have come up with a great ep that needs a few listens before you really appreciate it. There’s no better time to release it than the starting date of the bands December tour.

4/5
