EP

Soon after the band released their second album 'Death of a Dead Day', they
are releasing a new ep upon us titled 'Flogging the Horses'. The ep features
four audio tracks and the animated video for 'Bland Street Bloom' which
was the lead single from the bands second studio album 'Death of a Dead
Day'
The first track on the ep is the title track 'Flogging the Horses' which
is a track taken from the bands second album 'Death Of A Dead Day' and
the one thing I really like about this song and pretty much every Sikth
song is the vocals, the build up of drum beats is pretty impressive as
well. The second track of the ep 'Where Do We Fall?' is also taken from
the bands second album. This track starts off pretty mellow with mellow
guitar playing and soft vocals which both build up in time and then fall
back down to the mellowness, the vocals stand out from anything the band
have done before and the build ups/downs work well.
Track three 'Part of the Friction' is a demo recording and sounds pretty
well produced for a demo and features a mixture of vocals from freaky
screams to Jonathon Davis sounding shouts, I really like this song. The
final track on the ep is 'When Will The Forest Sleep?' which is a live
recorded track which originally featured on the bands debut studio album
'The Trees Are Dead And Dried Out Wait For Something Wild' and is just
as good live as it is a studio recording.
Sikth have had a great year so far in 2006 with the release of their
second album in many countries, many tours of the UK and now the release
of a stunning new ep and then more tours that lead them up to the new
year.
4/5
