Easykill are a young band from Cornwall who formed in 2005. The band have
a punky, grunge sound and are influenced by bands such as Foo Fighters,
Deftones, Rage Against The Machine and Fugazi which you can tell by listening
to the bands debut mini album 'National Record Of Achievement'.
The album opens up with 'Dead In The Water' the riffs instantly remind
me of 'The Zico Chain' the grunge sounding vocals fit in well and the
chorus even has catchy moments. 'Dim Sum' is more of a catchy song and
features some great punk elements. 'Ctrlbrkshftbrk' is a bit of a computer
geeky title but is a stunningly energetic song.
Each and every song on the album is quality but also slightly different
from each other, such as the vocals in 'Spy Vs Spy', as they’re
much different than the vocals on the rest of the mini album. 'Marks and
Sparks' is pure fast and catchy. 'Enemy Lines' features some raw backing
vocals and the album closes with 'City in Slow Motion' which features
some heavy drumming and good guitar riffs with a mad assault of shouting
vocals towards the end. This song keeps up the quality the whole album
has brought.
I can see Easykill going far as this mini album is very impressive espically
considering it was recorded in 12 days. Make sure you check these guys
out on their current tour of the small UK venues for a more intimate show
before they start playing bigger venues because I can see them rising
in 2007.
4/5
