For the past two years You Me At Six have been one
of those marmite bands that you either love or hate,
they have a massive following which has helped them
get to the stage where they can sell out your Academy
sized venues, it has also helped them play their
biggest shows to date supporting Paramore on many
arena shows through December and has also seen them
sign to Virgin Records, but at the same time there
are many people out there who think You Me At Six
are over rated unoriginal and simply where they
are because they know people in high places, I for
one don’t agree with the above comments but
have to say that I have never been a fan of the
band and every time song’s such as ‘Save
It For The Bedroom’ and ‘Finders Keepers’
were played my radio and TV were instantly switched
off as they really got on my nerves.
Well You Me At Six are currently gearing up to
release their second studio album ‘Hold
Me Down’, the album has their die hard fan’s
quaking in their boots that they have changed
their sound too much and it has people like me
quite excited and on edge that You Me At Six have
changed for the better, the first single to be
taken from the album is ‘Underdog’.
‘Underdog’ see’s You Me At
Six ditch that whole repetitive poppy sound and
feel of ‘Save It For The Bedroom’
and instead pick up an whole new punchy mature
sound, which is full of big drum beats, edgy guitar
riffs and big sing-a-long vocals which come across
so much bigger and better than anything they have
released before.
Overall the song is well written and well preformed
and is due for release on the 8th February so
make sure you pick up a copy once it is released
even if you hate the band as I am sure ‘Underdog’
will help change your opinion on You Me At Six.
5/5
