When Peter-John got evicted from his Toronto apartment
and landed on the couch of producer DJ Cirkut, both
artists decided that they should hook up to make
some music and Let’s Go To War were formed
pretty soon after with an handful of songs being
written in the matter of days and the first release
from Let’s Go To War is ‘Life We Live’
and it is being released on the 25th January.
‘Life We Live’ starts off with a
spoken word style phone conversation, as soon
as that conversation is finished crazy dance beats
and hip-hop style vocals come in with the vocals
going a bit Daft Punk electro style for the repetitive
chorus of “This is the life we live, this
is the life we live”, the song has got a
bit of everything from the hip-hop and techno
scene and has been put together well to come up
with this classic song.
The b-side ‘Burn Down The Disco’
is a lot more repetitive than the opening track
with the opening lyrics being “Burn Down
The Disco” being repeated over and over
again, the dance beats are a little more low key
but the bass is more edgy throughout the song.
The closing track ‘The Whole City’s
Got A Cold’ starts off with a weird set
of computerised robotic style vocals, the song
takes more of an hip-hop route with comical lyrics
of “Everybody’s sniffin’ sniffin’…
People don’t dance no more all they do is
sniff, all they do is sniff.”
Let’s Go To War have brought in enough
variety within the three songs featured on this
release, the song that stands out the most is
obviously the main track ‘Life We Live’
but it really does depend on what type of electronic
hip-hop music you enjoy the most as to which track
here you will enjoy the most, I would normally
not be interested in this style of music but Let’s
Go To War have won me over for now.
