So we've got the track and then 6 remixes. Great.
Firstly, the track itself.
Starting with the overused speech sample from
somewhere that usually
implies something mental is about to happen, the
song is, well it's
alright but it sounds like everything else in
this genre. If you like
Pendulum, then you're going to like this. There's
no question about it.
They're a bit different, but oh so similar in
oh so many ways. It
doesn't have that one sound that all Pendulum
songs use, it's got a mix.
A very 90s quirky bassline, a bit of wib-wob and
some twittering bleeps,
Pendulums vocal style and melody. But rest assured,
it was made to make
a big room of people bounce up and down, and there's
no denying it's
going to do that.
Now onto the remixes. I'm going to flit through
because I don't want to
hear what is essentially the same song six more
times. So, we've got
Excision & Datsik's remix, which is vaguely
based around the same song
but is essentially an excuse to make another dubstep
song that sounds
like everything else. The High Rankin Remix is
a bit more upbeat
rudeboy, while Pirate Soundsystem's take is a
bit wob-wob-dub but no
where near s intense as the first remix. The RacknRuin
remix is
repetative and after six minutes of that drum
beat you actually want to
do. But it could be faded in and out of a club
room near you – not that
you'd know it wasn't any other song. There's the
instrumental remix,
speaking for itself, and the radio edit, which
once again, you don't to
know about.
So, boom. We've got another song to add to the
Walkabout playlist.
4/5
