Detachments are another one of those bands that
decide to play that same old electronic music that
you have been over hearing for the past 18months
as every single band seems to be doing it these
days, it really does seem that if you don’t
put a bit of electrics into your music then you
are not going to succeed and the scene kids are
not going to love you, I don’t think this
is the actual case but bands these days seem to
think it is.
‘Circles’ is the new single from
Detachments and it is released on the 30th November,
I really can’t get on with the song as it
relies heavily on synths and electronic beats
and sounds very much robot sounding, however the
good thing going for the song is towards the later
part of the song it sounds like part of an epic
movie soundtrack sadly it just isn’t enough
to get me excited.
The b-side ‘H.A.L’, is just as irritating
as the main song, once again it features really
annoying synths and also over the top repetitive
vocals, the song runs for 3minutes 17seconds which
happens to be 3minutes and 17seconds to long for
my liking.
I have nothing against this new wave of electronic
influenced alternative music as long as the band
brings their own style into the music and does
something decent with it, but what the Detachments
have done here is bland, boring and very irritating,
the band’s debut album is released in 2010
and they have already been tipped for big things,
however I really can’t see big things happening
for these guys at the moment.
2/5
