You know Christmas is nearly here when hear Noddy
Holder from Slade shouting “It’s Christmas’
as your walking through all your local shops in
your local shopping centre whilst searching for
Christmas presents, well this year Slade are going
one better and are releasing ‘Merry Xmas Everybody,
Slade Party Hits’ which is basically their
best of compilation album which features a variety
of Slade Christmas songs and party classics.
The album starts with ‘Merry Xmas Everybody’,
the song that everybody knows no matter what age
you are or where you come from you will have heard
this song and you will know every single word
for it and you will also find yourself singing
along no matter how much the song get’s
on your nerves every year, I personally love the
song and know Christmas is here as soon as I hear
it this year, but this year that moment has come
along a bit too soon, thanks to having to review
the album.
Slade are the kinds of Christmas songs and other
festive songs on the album include ‘Santa
Claus Is Coming To Town, and ‘Here’s
To... (The New Year), the perfect song for you
to listen to after a barrel of beer whilst watching
the new year come in.
Some of the bands other best loved hits are ‘Mama
Weer All Crazee Now’, ‘Cum On Feel
The Noize’, ‘Skweeze Me Pleeze Me’,
‘Okey Cokey’, ‘Let’s Have
A Party’ are all included on the album and
no matter how cheesy the song titles sound and
the actually song’s are, they are still
the best songs to listen to over the festive season
and at drunken party’s.
Slade exploded out of the glam rock scene in
the 1970’s and hit the top of the chart
with 6 singles and made the top 20 with 23 single
releases, they were one of the most loved English
bands back in their day and ‘Merry Xmas
Everybody, Slade Party Hits’ is a reminder
of just how great but cheesy Slade really were
and still are, the album is released on the 23rd
November just in time for you to pick up whilst
doing your Christmas shopping, even if you’re
not interested in it, I am sure your dad is.
