The Hold Steady are a five-piece from Brooklyn in America and they are one
of the most random bands I have heard in a long time but extremely good
at the same time. The band makes quality rock and roll music and incorporates
a random theme to their music with their humorous lyrics.
The bands debut UK single 'Chips Ahoy!' tells a random tail about a guy
whose girlfriend doesn't have to work because she can tell which horse
will win the race and then they both spend the next week getting high,
very random indeed. The song is musically mellow and vocalist Craig Finn
has a pretty unique voice.
I think The Hold Steady could get pretty big as they have a sound you
rarely hear these days and the band write the most random humorous songs
you could imagine and with Vagrant Records snapping the band up it can
only mean good things for the band. I personally can’t wait to hear
the bands debut album 'Boys and Girls In America'.
4/5
