Canterbury are a band that are very difficult to
place on the music compass. Their debut offering
‘Thank You’ can only be described as
indie injected jerky pop (I think I’ve coined
a new phrase right there!), yet it envelopes youthfulness
and honesty which runs as a constant throughout
each of the glorious 32 minutes.
It has taken four years for Canterbury to release
their first full length, and it certainly has
been worth the wait. Leading single ‘Set
You Right’ exemplifies exactly what Canterbury
are best at; creating catchy, chant-along pop
songs.
Other highlights include ‘Diver’
and ‘Take Me Out To The Wall’, either
would not sound out of place on radio A Lists
throughout the country. Hopefully current and
upcoming tours with Billy Talent and Hundred Reasons
will give them some of the exposure that they
surely deserve.
It just goes to show that good things come to
those who wait. However, let’s just hope
that it does not take another four years before
Canterbury’s next release!
Canterbury are currently offering ‘Thank
You’ as a free download, so there you go,
you have absolutely no excuse. I implore you to
go and download it at canterburythankyou.com.
