the Casualties are back with there seventh studio album 'Under Attack' since
the band formed some sixteen years ago and is twelve tracks of fast raw
punk rock energy, the album has been produced by Bill Stevenson whose played
in many bands such as Black Flag and Descendents etc.
The album starts off with the title track 'Under Attack' the lyrics continue
in the bands political theme and goes on about the war. The song starts
off with a vicious drum beat and blazing guitars and the raw sounding
punk vocals come in shortly after, the song is fast and heavy throughout.
Track 2 'Without Warning' is a track about global warming and finishes
with chants of "Without Warning - No Second Chance" the song
overall is a pretty fast, catchy punk number. 'System Failed Us Again'
is a track about Hurricane Katrina. ‘Social Outcast' is a great
track and starts off with chants of "We Are the Enemies - of this
society" which run pretty much through the whole track.
The Casualties are one of the old school punk bands I really do have
time for as their music is always fast, fun and energetic even if the
band do use the same political theme for most of there songs/albums they
keep everything fresh with there sound. My favourite track on the album
'V.I.P.' as it is quite a slow song compared to most of the album but
it’s such a catchy sing along song with a chorus that just has you
throwing your fists in the air chanting along, awesome stuff. The album
also has a track about the music business titled 'Fallen Heroes' which
is a big fuck you to some of the rock stars of today.
'Under Attack' is a good album and what punk is all about, it’s
fast, its loud, its energetic and its political. I think there’s
enough variety on this to keep the hardcore fans of the band happy.
4/5
