I can't stand this wailing tart. But finally, she's
released something
which you can listen to without wincing. I know
arty girls love her. The
kind who tie bits of rope around their heads then
they go out, and draw
hearts or tears under their eyes with eyeliner.
But I'm not an arty girl.
/Sleep Alone/ is bearable, it's got a good rhythm,
and even when she
goes off on one of her falcetto wailing adventures
it still remains
quite tuneful and, yeah it's not bad at all.
But /Moon and Moon/ is just like all the other
stuff. Same old, same
old. Too slow, going for that strange mix of gentle
vulnerable music
with a dark edge, and a powerful lead vocal. It
doesn't tickle my
pickle. But this isn't all about me.
If you're a Bat For Lashes fan, you will like
this. If you aren't, you
might like /Sleep Alone/. And if you aren't sure,
then this hasn't
helped you at all. I don't know who it can help.
I just don't like it.
