Armor For Sleep - What To Do When You Are DeadArmor For Sleep - What To Do When You Are Dead

Armor For sleep are a 4 piece post-hardcore band from New Jersey. What To Do When You Are Dead is their second album release and is a concept album. It follows a story of a guy who dies and goes to heaven. He starts to regret what hes done and revisits places as a ghost.

The album starts of with Car Underwater which tells the story of a guy who decides to end his life by driving his car into a river which results in him drowning.

The Truth About Heaven is the track that stands out the most on the album and moves the story on a bit; how the guy walks past his grave, starts to feel lonely and begins to regret what he's done.

Moving on, Awkward Last Words explains how the guy starts to beg for his life back; ‘I wanna live again I wanna start everything over again’. Then we have Stay On The Ground, which is probably my favourite track on this album. It features Ben Jorgensen at his best, with angry screams of ‘get it, get it, get it right’.

Ok I could go on and talk you through the rest of the tracks but im not going to do that. However, the album finisher The End of a Fraud, which is one of the quietier tracks on the album, features some quite stunning vocals by Jana Pompa and completes the story with lyrics of ‘I’m leaving again for the second time around’.

Overall the concept album has worked really well here and each song sounds different. The story is told really well and not only is this album great musically but the album's insert is one of the coolest I've seen. It shows photos that go along with the story, and theres also a Comprehensive Guide To Your Afterlife booklet inside the case. The band have really put a lot of effort into this album, both musically, and artistically. Awesome.

5/5
